U.DANCE IS BACK FOR 2025!

Applications are now open for U.Dance 2025, presented in partnership between One Dance UK and National Youth Arts Wales.

WHAT IS U.DANCE?

U.Dance is a national celebration of performance by young people aged 11–19 years, and up to 25 years for young people with disabilities. U.Dance Cymru 2024 is part of the national U.Dance programme, which is delivered in partnership with One Dance UK.

The U.Dance National Festival 2024 will take place on the 25 - 27 July in London. This will be a huge celebration of youth dance, and will be held alongside screenings of youth dance films at cinemas, and exciting digital elements for all young people to take part in.

One Dance UK and U.Dance welcome dancers performing any style or genre, and actively encourage inclusive groups to apply to dance at the festival – U.Dance is for everyone!

Group leaders should fill in an application form below.

U.DANCE 2025 ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for a place at U.Dance National Festival 2025 groups will need to:

  • Submit a dance piece to us for consideration at U.Dance Cymru:

EITHER

- Create and submit a screen dance piece for consideration in the ‘U.Dance on Screen’ strand, with no upper limit on dancer numbers

OR

- Create and submit a piece made for the stage, for consideration in the ‘U.Dance on Stage’ strand, with a maximum of 30 dancers

  • Only include dancers aged 11 to 19 years on 25 July (dancers with disabilities aged up to and including 25 can apply)

  • Submit a dance piece which is between 2 and 7 minutes in duration.

  • Be based in the UK and involve dancers who live in the UK

  • Adhere to the music licensing requirements for your chosen strand (see U Dance guidance notes for further information)

U.DANCE 2025 APPLICATION PROCESS

Applications must be submitted by 21 February 2025.

Before you apply, we would highly recommend you carefully look at the U Dance guidance notes supplied by One Dance UK. We want everyone to take part in U.Dance Cymru in a safe and enjoyable environment, and participants must agree to abide by these guidelines and instructions.

Applications will be considered by a panel of industry experts, before being put forward to One Dance UK to represent Wales at the U.Dance National Festival on 25 – 27 July. We will endeavour to inform applicants by the end of April 2025 on whether their application to represent Wales at U Dance 2025 National Festival has been successful.

U.Dance is a fantastic experience. It is a wonderful celebration of young talent, and it also provides a chance for young dancers to connect, to take part in workshops and to learn more about the dance sector. Above all, it allows them to showcase their love of dance!
